You can make a reservation through our website on a computer or smartphone
(2) Regarding Reservations
● Drivers
Due to legal provisions, it is not possible to rent a vehicle with a driver, or to introduce or arrange a driver.
(3) Reservation Cancellation Fee
If you cancel your reservation, you will be charged the following reservation cancellation fee. If we do not hear from you more than one hour after your reservation time, we will treat your reservation as cancelled. In addition, if a reservation is canceled due to our reasons, or if a rental contract is not concluded by us, we will refund the full price of the reservation.
Please note that if you cancel your reservation within 24 hours of online reservation (regardless of pick-up date), there will be no cancellation fee or penalty.

NOC (Non-Operation Charge)
What is a Non-Operation Charge (NOC)?
If the vehicle is in need of repair or cleaning due to a traffic accident, incident, theft, breakdown, defacement, smoking in a nicotine-containing vehicle, or other cause not attributable to Eight Ways Car Rental, the customer shall not be liable for the use of the vehicle during repair or cleaning. NOC may be charged as part of the loss.

Cases that Invalidate Insurance/Protection
You are expected to drive the vehicle in accordance with the rental agreement. You will be responsible for any damage caused by any of the following actions or situations: In such cases, the aforementioned insurance/protection may not apply. If Eight Ways Car Rental meets your payment obligation, you must immediately reimburse Eight Ways Car Rental for the amount.
■ Failure to comply with necessary procedures, such as reporting to the police and Eight Ways Car Rental at the scene of the accident.
Please contact the police and Eight Ways Car Rental at the location of the accident or incident, regardless of the extent of the damage, the involvement of third parties, or whether there was negligence.
■ Violation of the terms of the rental agreement
Violation of the Road Traffic Act, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, unauthorized extension of the rental period, driving or renting by anyone other than the driver or additional driver, driving without a valid driver’s license, dangerous driving, using a vehicle contrary to public order and morals, settling without the consent of Eight Ways Car Rental, etc.
■ Exemptions outside the scope of the applicable insurance policy or compensation system.
Intentionally caused damage, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, towing costs and any related costs in the event of a total loss of the vehicle, flat or damaged tires, missing hubcaps, etc. owned by the lessee or driver. , damage to property or items used or stored.
■ Failure to properly use or maintain the rental car
Theft of the vehicle with the keys in the ignition, loss of vehicle keys, damage due to improper parking, soiling or odor of vehicle interior and accessories (including smoking in No Smoking Car), loss of vehicle accessories, improper parking, etc. Damage to equipment and accessories due to improper handling or installation, incorrect refueling, damage caused by driving off-road (on the coast, riverbed, etc.), etc.
*If you lose your key, you are responsible for the cost of the key and the actual expenses incurred by Eight Ways Car Rental to deliver the key.
About Additional Options
(1) ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) Card
An ETC unit and card are included with every rental. Any toll road charges are to be paid upon return of vehicle.(2) Childseats
According to the Road Traffic Act, drivers are required to use an infant support device (child seat) when carrying an infant under the age of 6. Rental cars cannot be rented if a child seat is not provided. Please make a reservation or bring your own.
*It is the customer’s responsibility to fit the child seat, and even if a staff member assists, the customer is asked to confirm that it is safe.
*We are not responsible for accidents caused by improper installation of child seats.
*If the child seat is damaged or lost due to customer carelessness in handling or management, we may ask you to pay for the cost.
*Please note that we cannot judge the suitability of the products you bring to your child.
3. Before Renting
(1) Things to Prepare
■Japanese driver’s license
OR a driver’s license from your home country with one of the following additional documents:
■International driving permit under the Convention of Road Traffic on Sep. 19, 1949
■Authorized Japanese Translation for driver’s license issued in: Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium or Monaco

When driving with an international driving permit:
You will be required to present both passport from your home country and your international driving permit.
| Caution:International driving permits are only valid for one year from the date of issue (please confirm the date of issue on your permit). ■Authorized Japanese translation
If you have a driver’s license issued in Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Taiwan or Monaco, you are required to present your original driver’s license, the authorized Japanese translation and your passport.
Translations are valid for one (1) year from the date of entry into Japan. Please present your passport so we can confirm the date of entrance.
●Authorized Japanese translation of the driver’s license should be issued by the respective country’s embassy or consulate in Japan or by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF).
●For Taiwanese licenses, a Japanese translation of the driver’s license should be issued by the JAF or the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association.
■Licenses of all drivers
Please present the driver’s license of all persons driving. The driver’s license must be valid in Japan and valid for driving the rental car you are using. All drivers agree to allow Eight Ways Car Rental to make a copy of their license and international driving permits before pick up of the vehicle.
(2) Things to check
- To ensure the safety of our customers, we cannot allow more people on board than there are seat belts.
- At the time of rental, we will check the usage status and provide advice on safe driving.
- If you need to display a “beginner mark” or “elderly driver mark,” please display the applicable mark when driving.
- Please be sure to carry the rental car contract (rental certificate) during the rental period.
- The customer will be in charge of the rental vehicle, including securing storage space and daily inspection and maintenance during the rental period.
(3) Payment
- When reserving, only credit card payments are accepted.
- ETC charges and refueling charges can be paid in cash when returning the vehicle
4. While Renting
(1) Obligation to pay a fine when parking illegally
If there is a parking violation while using a rental car, it is the customer’s responsibility to go to the police station that has jurisdiction over the area, complete the prescribed procedures, and pay the fine immediately. When returning the vehicle, please present the traffic violation notice and documents such as payment slips and receipts with a receipt stamp to the location for confirmation. If you cannot present it (if we cannot confirm payment of the fine), we will charge you the following amount (parking fine):

- In this case, the full amount paid will be refunded by paying the fine after returning the rental car and presenting the traffic violation notice and the payment slip/receipt with the receipt stamp to the office.
(2) In the event of an accident
In the event of an accident, stop driving immediately and be sure to take the following steps.
1) Relief of injured persons
2) Reporting and reporting to the police

(3) Regarding Non-Operation Charge
In the unlikely event that the vehicle requires repair or cleaning due to an accident, theft, malfunction, defacement, odor (including smoking in No Smoking Car), etc. not attributable to our company, we will not be liable for any business compensation during that period. The following amount will be charged as part of the repair, regardless of the extent of the damage or the time required for repairs.

5. Return
(1) Excess Charge
If you wish to change your plans or miss return time, please contact the pick-up location for approval in advance. In that case, you will be required to pay the excess charges specified in the price list upon return.
(2) Halfway Cancellation Charges
If you wish to cancel your contract mid-term, please contact the pick-up location for approval before returning the vehicle. In that case, the rental fee for the unused period will be refunded, but Halfway Cancellation Charges will be charged separately. Please note that if the difference between the scheduled return time at the time of pick-up and the actual return time is less than 24 hours, we will not be able to refund the difference.

*Consumption tax (including local consumption tax) is not charged for Halfway Cancellation Charges.
(3) Fuel
We will lend you a full tank, so please return with a full tank of fuel as specified by the car manufacturer. If you are unable to return the car with a full tank for some reason, we will charge you based on a separately determined kilometre conversion rate or the amount of fuel remaining on the fuel gauge. Please note that in this case, the charge will be higher than the actual amount of fuel used.
- All rental matters other than those listed above are based on the “Rental Terms and Conditions” separately established by Eightways Car Rental
- If there are individually specified conditions for each rental car plan, priority will be given to the individually specified conditions, not limited to this guide.
